1 Day / 1 Project Week | Day #1 – Home

In order to photograph more, I had the idea to make a series in which I realise 1 project every day. It doesn’t have to be anything big. Just to take the camera in my hand again. Parameters for this project: Fujifilm X-Pro 1 7Artisans 35mm 1.2 Location: Home

TRIX-400 Pushed recipe for Lumix

I’m stuck in the GAS again. But after buying the Canon RP and the Fuji X-Pro3, I realised that I take most of my photos with my old Lumix GX80/85. It’s also the camera I like to grab and put in my jacket pocket to take with me on my everyday trips. I simply love this camera. Besides the small size, it’s the black and white pictures that I get from the camera. I like high contrast images. Rich shadows and bright highlights. Fuji is well known for its in-camera presets. But I still prefer the Black/White JPGs from the …

What is the attraction of analog Film photography?

For me there are 2 things that make analogue photography so attractive. First – the process I enjoy the process itself. Inserting the film into the camera. Photographing more deliberately and more slowly. To develop the film. To take the finished film out of the developer tank and see the negative strip. Its a magical moment. Second – photographing peopleWhen it comes to portrait photos, analogue film has a magic all its own. I think it is the great gradients that are possible on film. Analogue photography makes it possible to capture the soul of a human being. Here are …

Hello Fullframe, goodbye Crop-Sensors

I have often thought that I am finally rid of my GAS. That I had finally found the perfect camera for me. Whether my search for the camera will end, I cannot say. But the Canon RP puts everything I have ever used in the shade.Reduced to the essential. Brilliant image quality. It’s miles away from MFT and APS-C cameras (Ricoh GR III excluded). The camera has something very special. At high ISO it has a noise behaviour like an analogue camera. We are talking about 6400 ISO upwards. I love that. I can take pictures with ISO 25,000. I …

Canon RP (Lake Garda)

My excursion into analogue photography brought me to the full frame camera. I was curious for a long time whether a full frame camera differs so much from an APS-C or MFT. So I bought the Canon RP. The quality blew me away. I think I will not go back to a smaller sensor so quickly. Except my Ricoh GR III. The camera is functionally very reduced and reminds me of the analogue Canon 500N. This article should not be a camera review. I generally think that specifications are not enough to evaluate a camera. I judge a camera by …

VSCO A6 inspired Lightroom Preset

I have been a fan of the VSCO A6 preset for a long time. Unfortunately VSCO never released an A6 preset for Lightroom. Now I have created my own A6 inspired preset for Lightroom.I can’t remember how many hours I spent on it. There were times when I thought I was going crazy. But now I’m happy with my results. In combination with the Ricoh GR III positive settings, I think the preset is really nice. Update: Since I was asked several times if I would sell this preset, I decided to make it available here. Hier ein paar Beispiele:

Project against my perfectionism #7 – „Patterns“

Here some snapshots from my project series „Projects against my perfectionism and G.A.S“ Patterns – it is an unspeltakular topic. But that is what it is all about. Just start taking pictures. Without the claim that the photos are above average. All pictures were taken with my Ricoh GR III in RAW. No matter which camera I use, it always goes back to my lovely Ricoh GR III. Even if I wish for a viewfinder, a flip-up display and a faster autofocus, the quality compensates everything. It is always a pleasure to look at the pictures on my big screen …

Get Rid of G.A.S.

I’m stuck in the G.A.S. again. The search for the perfect camera. So I bought the Panasonic Lumix LX100 II, Panasonic GX800 and the fullframe Canon RP. Oh yes, and a 30mm and 25mm 0.95 MFT lens. I have photographed less and less. Even though I have so much more equipment now, I always end up with the Ricoh GR III. The image quality and user guidance is simply unbeatable. Since a few days I started to do projects again. Just small projects in between. Grab the camera and go out for an hour. It sounds banal but these projects …

Creativity is Limitation

A small family excursion to the neighbouring town Rattenberg. Here time seems to stand still for hundreds of years. Once again I discovered the Ricoh GR III for myself. I never had a camera that could capture so much details. For me the almost perfect camera. The Ricoh GR III has an internal memory. I think for 36 photos. Very nice idea. This is another aspect I took from analog photography. To take fewer pictures of a scene, but to think better before taking them. Another proof of „creativity is limitation“. „If you say to yourself, I have all the …

My first self-developed #35mm film

I was so curious what it is like to develop a film myself. I have to say it’s really fun. It didn’t turn out perfect. I think I need to be more careful with the drying. But for the first try I am satisfied. I think I am just about to fall in love with analogue photography. I had said in another article that you can certainly simulate the look in Lightroom. I changed my mind. Especially the Skintones are fantastic. I digitized them with my Ricoh GR III. Sounds crazy. I tried it before with the Fuji X-Pro 1 …
